About IMCO
Since 1976, IMCO Marine has been a family-owned leader in high-performance marine manufacturing — custom exhaust systems, fuel tanks, sterndrive repair, and fabrication trusted by boat builders, racers, and dealers nationwide. We’re looking for a skilled technician to join our team assembling, testing, and repairing sterndrive units for some of the fastest boats on the water.
The Role
You’ll assemble, test, and repair our stern drive units — including SCX, SCX4, SCXT, and SC drives — working from technical drawings and precise specs. Some drives are new builds from machined and purchased components; others come in for diagnosis and repair. This is hands-on, precision mechanical work in a clean, indoor shop environment — no outdoor work, no weather delays.
What You’ll Do
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and specs to assemble drive units correctly.
- Assemble complete stern drive units from machined and purchased components.
- Test each drive for proper function, alignment, torque, and leaks before it’s approved to ship.
- Diagnose and repair returned or reworked drive units.
- Keep accurate records of parts used and work performed on each unit.
- Move and handle drive components and tooling throughout the build process.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on mechanical or drivetrain experience preferred.
- Experience assembling or repairing mechanical/drivetrain components — marine experience a plus.
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Comfortable with hand tools, torque wrenches, and basic diagnostic equipment.
- Comfortable lifting and moving material up to 50 lbs.
- Precision and attention to detail — these are safety-critical parts.
- Reliable, in-person, full-time.
